I have always been fascinated with the culture, mystery and intrigue that China afforded my imagination. These photographs are the result of my first trip to China. Using an old 1954 Kodak Brownie tourist camera I have owned since childhood I went about touring Hong Kong and parts of mainland China recording the mystery of the culture and environment that I witnessed. I chose this non-adjustable antiquated camera because I knew it would yield mysterious and somewhat undefined results propagating what my imagination presented and affording me freedom to become more immersed in the culture while photographing. This was my first trip to China.

我一直被中国的文化，神秘及引人入胜之处吸引着，成为我的想象力的资源。今次展出的作品是我首次到中国所得的成果。使用儿时已拥有而于一九五四年生产的柯达 Brownie 游客相机，我在香港及广东地区记录下中国文化的奥秘及我所目睹的景象。选用了这个不能调校的古董相机，因为我深明它会产生诡密及某程度上不可定性的结果，因而使我能扩大我的想象，并拥有足够自由在拍摄的过程中，能更溶入身处的文化之中。这展览就是我的首次中国之旅。
